Student Employee of the Month
To honor outstanding student employees, the Student Employment Advisory Committee elects a "Student of the Month" from submitted nominations. The award is intended to recognize a student employee who displays exemplary performance in areas of his/her employment.
Anyone (UNI/Library Staff, Students, or Public) may anonymously submit a nomination form for a worthy student.
Rod Library’s October student of the month is none other than Access Service’s Haley.
Haley is an English/Creative Writing major who will be graduating in May, 2020. She has worked at Rod Library for almost 3 years, her first year in the Reference department and the last 2 years in Access Services.
Haley has been a building monitor nearly the entire time she has worked in Access Services. Her responsibilities include opening and closing the library on weekends and nights, delegating tasks and making sure the library runs smoothly when permanent staff are absent.
Some of her favorite tasks include checking the Gilchrist book drop on weekends (which means driving the golf cart) and shelving books. Although she does an amazing job of shifting books that might be her personal least favorite task.
Some of her fondest memories involve visits to the library, which inspired her to work here at Rod.
As she inches toward graduation she is hoping to move to Pennsylvania and work in the publishing field.
When Haley isn’t in the stacks shelving or helping patrons at the library services desk she enjoys hiking, eating out with friends, writing, and reading memoirs.
We at Rod Library want to thank Haley for her exemplary service as a student employee and wish her the very best. Thanks for being such a great asset to the Rod Library, and congratulations for being chosen October 2019 Rod Library Student of the Month.
