Congratulations to our June 2017 Student of the Month Award winner Hannah! In November 2015, Hannah was hired to work for the Library’s Resource Management-Collections Unit. Some of Hannah’s job duties include processing gifts, assisting with phone calls, and answering questions of walk-in patrons to the unit office and directing them to the appropriate staff. She also works on lost and missing reports, special projects involving the Library’s database, as well as sending letters to publishers and vendors.
Her nominator for this award wrote, “Hannah is very open, friendly and approachable, and very willing to work on whatever is assigned to her. She is prompt, dependable, and pays attention to the details.” Also mentioned is Hannah’s excellent job in working to create display exhibits. Hannah is responsible for finding library resources, online journal articles, ebooks, and creating biographies or display props for them. This summer Hannah is also working for the Acquisitions section within the unit preparing mail and receiving periodicals.
Hannah’s hometown is Shueyville, Iowa, and she is a junior majoring in Political Communication with a minor in Religion and Sexuality Women & Gender Studies. She anticipates graduating in May of 2019 and plans a future in activism for underprivileged communities. Hannah says, “I’m passionate about politics and I think people talking and understanding each other is how we make change.”
Hannah’s hobbies include reading, working out, biking, watching Parks and Rec for the 5th time, and being with friends.
Thank you Hannah for your hard work and dedication to the Rod Library and congratulations on your well-deserved June 2017 Student of the Month award!
